Description

The Yeworthy Treehouse is a stunning eco-friendly, off-grid retreat set amongst the tree-tops and above a private lake. The cosy treehouse comes with a log-burner to keep you cosy and enjoys breathtaking views from the balcony. The surroundings are completely secluded and perfectly private - you will only have the birds and wild deer who roam the forest as neighbours. Guests can also enjoy the use of the summer-house, perfect for BBQs in the summer months, and the rowing boat on the lake.

The tree-house is eco-friendly and totally off-grid so is perfect for those looking for a peaceful and undisturbed stay. The treehouse has a double bed with plenty of comfy cushions and pillows while the log-burning stove means you can stay warm and cosy, even on the colder nights. Logs can be purchased from the owners upon arrival for £5. A kettle can be boiled and basic cooking can be done on a 2 ring gas-fired camp stove, complete with kitchen utensils, pots and pans to rustle up a meal. An ice/cool box can be provided with a refundable deposit of £30, to be paid on arrival.

Fresh water is provided for guests from a bowser. The private, eco-friendly, sawdust toilet is in a separate structure nestled amongst the trees.

Please note there is no shower facility and guests will have to bring their own towels.

Guests will be met by the owners who will transport you down to the treehouse in a jeep. Guests will have access to the jeep for the duration of their stay.

The Yeworthy Treehouse is a perfect getaway for those who want to get back to nature, sleep amongst the stars and enjoy the peace and tranquility that the setting provides.

Perfect retreat away

Andy and Caroline were the perfect hosts. Answered all our questions about the history of the treehouse.
If you want a relaxing night away in complete nature, no signal or Internet. This is the perfect stay for you. The log burner kept everything toasty even till the next morning - long after we let it go out. Waking up with the view from bed was awesome.

It was raining most of the time but it just made it even more cosy. We loved exploring the woods and being at one with nature. The host was very welcoming and kind just as we remembered from last year. The tree house is so special to us and we will certainly be visiting annually. Being completely cut off from the rest of the world is just the best therapy and in the most perfect setting. I can’t recommend it enough. Embracing the off-grid life was the perfect tonic to a hectic day-to-day life. I was gutted when holiday came to an end. Will definitely be coming back. There’s a Lidl in Okehampton that’s great for stocking up bits prior to arrival. We’d recommend meal planning and using tinned goods, as once you’re in, you’re in. Also for Ladies whose time of the month strikes during the trip. The toilet is very clean and well maintained. Take biodegradable/flushable wipes and sandwiches bags so things can be wrapped up and disposed in the main bin. Such a wonderful spot, book it, you won’t regret it!

Pictures don’t do the treehouse justice, we are already planning our second trip there. Being in the woods was the perfect location for our little cocker spaniel to mooch around in, she was living the dream. The drive to the treehouse was through beautiful countryside but the tranquillity of the forest and the nature once you are there is unbeatable. Andy, our host, was personable and friendly. Wonderful private, cosy, back to nature treehouse

It was so peaceful, exactly what we were after. Both nights we stayed were really clear nights so we were able to do some stargazing . The toilet isn’t an issue, only a few seconds walk from the treehouse. No shower wasn’t really an issue, we took some ‘body wash wet wipes’ which was fine. Walked to the Clovelly inn for lunch , nice walk (even when it poured it down) and a very friendly pub. Andy was a very friendly, kind host and introduced us to the treehouse and the land very well, with lots of information. Made us feel very welcome and at home. We loved our stay, and hope to come back soon!! Thank you Andy!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse. The treehouse itself is very well built and was clean, with everything you needed for the stay. We bought logs for the fire from the host but could’ve done with a few more to warm the cabin in the morning as it was cold and frosty. The Treehouse so peaceful and in a beautiful location and well and truly off grid. Only small downside for us was that we hadn’t anticipated the time it would take to check-in, as we had to drive slowly down the track in the host’s 4x4 a few times so the sun had set by the time we could finally relax and enjoy our surroundings! Communication with hosts was really good and I would definitely recommend!

Great host, perfect setting, beautiful surroundings, no one else to spoil our peace and quiet, nothing but the sounds of nature to sooth our souls and calm our minds. We have already booked our next stay at this wonderful location! We can’t wait!!!

It’s perfect how it is, the only change I’d make is to seal up the toilet shed so it’s out of the elements as it’s a bit cold on ya bum at night! oh and a wood fired hot tub would put the cherry on the cake . It’s our new favourite destination!!

Really really enjoyed our weekend here, it was the perfect relaxing break in a very secluded and private plot of land. We went mid January, so we was a little worried about the cold, however the fire keeps the place lovely and toasty so just make sure you have lots of wood and you will be lovely and warm! We let the fire go out around 8pm and it kept it warm enough all through the night :) The lake and setting is beautiful, and the views while lay in bed are stunning! We didn’t try the local pub as we were quite cosy by the fire, but clovelly inn was 3 miles away and seemed great value for money based on the menu in the draw! Thanks for your help Andy!

The owners were absolutely lovely, very welcoming and very informative. Explained everything we would need to know for our stay and then left us to it. the treehouse was very clean and tidy and is just an absolutely beautiful place overall. We had a couple of recommendations from the owners about local pubs etc and we explored these and it was fantastic. We enjoyed it so much that we will 100% book and stay here again.

This place was breathtaking. the landscape was beautiful. Grande, wide open private land with lots of wooded spaces to explore and appreciate with rope swings and tyre swings dotted around, lots of wildlife, and so peaceful I can not fault it. Cosy and charming treehouse, beautiful view from the balcony and a wood fire which not only warmed the place up very effectively, but was relaxing for the ambience. the hosts were very friendly. highly recommend

We had the most lovely weekend at the Treehouse. The rowing boat was the most perfect touch and the alligators in the water were so friendly. The compost toilet was absolutely fine, would be nice to have a eco shower provided also! The treehouse was beautiful, lots of things provided like tea, coffee and milk powder. The log burner was absolutely baking! We ended up sleeping with the sliding door to the balcony open because we were so warm! It would be nice if the wood was supplied free of charge as this is the one source of heating. Comfy bed with soft sheets. The hosts were so friendly and made us feel very welcome, good recommendations for nearby things to do and places to eat. Lovely sentiment behind the making of the treehouse too and the summer house was a nice touch with the football table, we had great fun! It was lovely to be away from everything, no electricity,no signal and no people!! Thank you for such a lovely stay!

What an amazing place and experience. Totally secluded and private, and completely off grid. Absolutely perfect for a night away. Waking up with the view of the trees and lake was fantastic. Andy was an amazing host showing us to the treehouse and giving us all the information we needed. As the track to the treehouse is very 'off road' we even had use of one of his vehicles to get there and back which added to the experience. We went to the local pub (Clovelly Inn, about 3 miles away) for dinner and that's highly recommended as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting something a little bit different.

Get off grid

Looking to go off grid? This is the place. Fantastic and magical treehouse overlooking your own private mini lake. You access the tree house using a 4x4 jeep, which is provided for your exclusive use during the stay. It's a one bed cabin in the trees, with kitchenette and terrace. It is shabby rustic, rather than shabby chic, so be prepared for a bit of Bear Grylls (outside compost toilet, no shower, no electricity and no phone signal). A log burner is the only heat provider, so if you go in the colder season bring layers (had to pay for logs, which was a bit disappointing as there was no other heating. Really should be included in the price for the winter months). Ideally situated for walking on Dartmoor. You will find some nice pubs near by.

Andy was lovely and helpful, our car got stuck 5 minutes from the treehouse and he came to pull us out with his 4x4 which we later got to use, my boyfriend loved it :) The location is just stunning and we were lucky to enjoy lots of sun too. A purpose built treehouse nestled in stunning woodland, overlooking a peaceful man-made lake makes reconnecting with nature a breeze. So firstly, the location, wow. What a beautiful and idyllic location set right out in the middle of nowhere, honestly the pictures just do not do it justice. Incredibly peaceful setting, with only the local wildlife to disturb you from a relaxing stay. Sitting on the balcony you can hear the nearby stream gurgling away over the back, Acorns dropping from the trees and some kind of demonic cow a few fields over making a real interesting sound! We were welcomed by one of the owners on arrival (eventually, see below) and taken down towards the treehouse itself. You can either go with them in their pickup,if your feeling adventurous, and your car will handle it, drive down yourself - which is what we did, and it was great fun. Then your given a tour of the grounds, shown everything you need, the paths around the lake, the boat, the toilets etc etc and then left to your own devices for the duration of your stay. There is currently wood available for the log fire but I was informed that once its gone, its gone - so I recommend future guests to make sure you bring plenty of your own wood. Also be prepared for EVERYTHING you own to stink of smoke when you leave. Its just part of the experience but the wood burner in the room does get a little smoky from time to time, so don't turn up in your best designer gear! Also something you might not expect, there are LED lights in the treehouse, powered by solar chargers, so you won't be stuck in darkness all night - we packed a tonne of torches and didn't actually need them in the end! Except for when we went wandering,to the toilet in the dark!

A great break to switch off from tech. Rowing on the lake and trying to get the fire started whiled away our time, and of course lots of reading. It was so great that we could borrow the 4-wheel drive to get down to the treehouse as it was needed in the wet weather. Bring food and anything to drink with you. Andy showed us around and was a nice and friendly host.

I absolutely loved the treehouse! Its remote, cosy, peaceful and fun! I loved laying in bed and looking at squirrels in the trees ( and running across the roof!) i loved the stillness and tranquillity of it all, i loved the wildlife, the clear skies at night (no light pollution) it really was absolutely perfect. I imagine that it doesnt matter in the slightest what the weather is doing, the surroundings would still be as fascinating and gorgeous.

The treehouse itself is cute and cosy! The fire really heats up the space and seems to hold the heat well. Double ring camping stove meant we could cook pretty much anything, and we did! We will definitely go back again.

Nothing really! Only thing I wish id taken, and will next time, is a few blankets to wrap myself up in and sit out on balcony with. Night's can be chilly now, but the view is amazing!

I honestly can not recommend this place enough, it is absolutely incredible. The treehouse really is in the middle of nowhere and is the perfect place to relax. We really enjoyed walking our dog around the grounds and then sitting for a glass of wine in front of the summer house watching the dragonflies chasing one another. The hosts were more than helpful and provided us with all of the local knowledge we needed including pub recommendations and where to go for the nearest shop. There are lots of extra touches that really added to our stay as well, such as binoculars to spot wildlife, tyre swings, lighting all around the pond for nighttime, and the little summer house for sitting in. My wife and I stayed here for one night with our dog. Very peaceful and isolated. Exactly what we were after. We drank wine and ate cheese on the tree house balcony and in the morning had our breakfast in the summer house overlooking the pond. Some cute little tyre swings around the place, but our favourite part of the stay was going out onto the little jetty after dusk and letting the bats fly around our heads and watching them skim the top of the pond. Wow- this place is amazing! Completely exceeded our expectations. Caroline and Andy are so nice, met us on arrival and took us down to the treehouse to make sure we got down the track okay. The treehouse is situated in the most stunning location - totally secluded amongst the trees and next to a pond to look out on over the balcony. Everything was very clean and the little touches like cereals,tea and coffee were very appreciated. The treehouse has a log burner inside but we didn’t need to use it as it stayed lovely and warm even though it was a little chilly outside. The summerhouse is great to sit at and enjoy a drink whilst looking out on the pond. We took the boat out for a paddle which was so fun! Can’t recommend this place enough, we would love to stay again! Thank you :)

Our perfect place! Spent the whole weekend in these beautiful surroundings . Walked all through the woods , hitched rides on the many tyre / rope swings ! The treehouse is perfectly warm , stunning views- I wanted to take that balcony view home ! Love the whole set up ! Made full use of the gas stove provided - sausage /bacon sandwiches for breakfast and steak for our dinner ! Rocky enjoyed many boats rides too and the sun even made an appearance ....So much wildlife , we seen Deer, ravens , Canadian geese, woodcock and plenty of toads in the lake . My husband bought his solar shower so we weren’t fussed about the no shower facilities ! We would absolutely love to come again in warmer weather too :)

Amazing location, this is the perfect retreat if you want some quite time away from busy everyday life! We stayed on the night of the 15th of February just as Storm Dennis was hitting and there wasn’t one moment where we got cold, the treehouse is super cosy! We brought a couple of books and a board game with us to keep us entertained and had so much fun! Caroline and her husband were so welcoming and once they had checked us in they left us to enjoy our time at the treehouse. We didn’t see anyone else whilst staying at the there so felt like we were in our own little bubble. There wasn’t any phone signal in the treehouse, which was perfect as it meant there were no distractions. The bed was so comfortable and the camping stove was great for cooking simple meals. We will definitely be back!

At Yeworthy eco treehouse — Sad to leave this amazing place, I don’t remember the last time I felt so relaxedcompletely de-stressed. We are definitely going to return soon, we had exclusive use of the stunning treehouse and summerhouse along with 15 acres of Victorian woodland, the lake and the river running through, we spent our time exploring, sitting by the lakeon the balcony watching the wild life which included dozens of dragonflies and butterflies, moorhens and herons, deer, bats.

This was our second time staying here & we'd certainly return. Myself, partner & puppy had a very restorative 2 nights stay. We had unfortunate weather, but it made the surrounding area into a lovely soundscape. I stopped here for a night with my partner and it has to be one of the best places we have stopped. We met Andy on arrival & He took us down to the lodge in the jeep then told us all about the location and the family story, he has real passion for the place and I can see why. He told us where we can walk and the boundaries of the property, where the river runs etc then how to operate the cooker and lights etc. Super friendly bloke, we felt so comfortable. The location itself is stunning, if you are a wildlife lover, this is the place to stay. We saw deer, frogs, rabbits, squirrels & birds including a kingfisher that we watched all day and night. We were also told there may be an otter down there which we saw very early in the morning, so special! The boat gave us hours of fun as we drifted about gently, listening to bird. The location is completely private, the only thing we wished is that we booked an extra night. Thank you we will be back!

Such a magical place - from the friendly off roader welcome drive down to the treehouse in torrential rain to spotting a wee mouse on the balcony trying to make a bed with some plastic bag material under the most amazingly bright stars on our first night! Waking up and seeing the lake reflections for the first time in the very early hours... just breathtaking... cozy and comfortable bed - would love to know where you bought the topper from!? So fun to get out on the boat and enjoy the absolute peace and seclusion we had here .. loved having no phone signal - though my partner did! We will be back :) I’ve shared it on my page so expect you will get lots of bookings! We took lots of our own logs and the top notch insulation kept it toasty... Honestly such a beautiful little get away, and will definitely be recommending it to friends and family! Super cosy room with the added bonus of a functional kitchen area, really spacious and sheltered balcony so even in the winter it’s been fab! Very good value for money considering how private the area is and how much you get access to. Plus added bonus of use of a Jeep for duration of stay!! The host Andy was also super welcoming and genuinely a lovely guy!
